Settlement of the Western Plains

Top of page

A documentary study of the movement of people to the Canadian prairies and the development of the plains into one of the Earth's great wheatlands. Suitable for classroom-use, the film goes back to pioneer days, when "sod-busters" from the east poured into the empty grasslands where large acreages could be bought for only a few dollars. The film is a lesson in human geography that students will readily grasp.
