Alcohol: How Much Is Too Much

Top of page

The body is a wonderful machine. But it cannot function well on inferior fuel. One of these is alcohol, a drug that inhibits the body's functions. Alcohol's effects vary depending on such factors as a person's size and the intervals between drinks. Generally, one 1-oz. drink affects vision, three drinks affect speech and balance, and eight drinks affect walking and standing. Because of these debilitating effects, every time a person takes a drink he must ask himself, "How much is too much?"
