John Cat

Top of page

During a brief stop in a small western town, two young Indigenous men rescue a fellow Indigenous man who was beaten in a tavern brawl. The following day, however, John Cat prevents his rescuers from helping an Indigenous boy they find injured by the roadside, arguing that the police will accuse them of having hurt the boy. Based on a story by W.P. Kinsella, the film is about prejudice and about a conflict between helping someone and protecting one's own interests.
