Prior to the Northwest Rebellion and continuing to the present day, members of the Métis Catholic community were among the faithful who made an annual pilgrimage to the village of St. Laurent in the Duck Lake area of Saskatchewan, the spiritual centre of the Métis nation at the time of the Rebellion.
