This is a portrait of a very distinctive bird, the great blue heron, whose summer breeding grounds are on rocky islands in the St. Lawrence River. The film documents the bird's intricate courtship rituals, and the breeding and rearing of its young. Outstanding footage clearly depicts the bird's developmental cycle, from egg to the young adult ready to migrate to winter grounds in Central America.
