A report on topographical surveys in Canada, describing modern surveying methods, different types of maps produced, and the value of these maps in making possible the most efficient development of the country's resources. Surveyors are shown on field expeditions, gathering information to be used along with air photographs in bringing maps up-to-date, and we see several examples of maps turned out in this way. The film explains how information is obtained about sub-surface rock, dense tracts of forest and varieties of soil, and suggests how this information aids prospector, oilman, lumber company and farmer.
