New Home in the West

The first Ukrainian settlers came to Canada seeking a land of freedom and opportunity. This film traces their pioneer work. It begins by showing how, by unending labour, they helped to open up the Canadian west. Early settlers had little money or machinery. They had, however, courage and faith in the future; and every member of the family helped in the struggle to gain a livelihood from the land of the new continent. Soon their rolling fields of grain shone golden in the prairie sunlight.
