Netsilik Eskimo: 1

The Eskimo: Fight for Life (51 min. 6 sec.) and The Netsilik Eskimo Today (17 min. 49 sec.) look at the Inuit of Pelly Bay before and after the arrival of southern culture. An authentic record of the life of the Netsilik Inuit of the Pelly Bay region of the Canadian Arctic during their last migratory camp is followed by a look at Netsilik life under a federal government scheme. With permanent, heated housing, and with a school and a store provided for the community, the Inuit have largely abandoned their nomadic hunting traditions.
