Four titles on the exploration of Eastern Canada and the Arctic. John Cabot: A Man of the Renaissance is about how the Italian adventurer, sailing under the British flag, became the first European to set foot on mainland North America (28 min. 5 sec.). In Samuel de Champlain (Quebec 1603) drawings recreate Champlain's career as explorer, colonizer, founder of Québec City, Governor of New France, cartographer, and writer (14 min. 43 sec.). The Last Voyage of Henry Hudson is a dramatic account of Hudson's last attempt to discover a northwest passage, beginning with his departure from England in 1610 and ending with his mutinous crew setting him adrift in the bay that now carries his name (27 min. 51 sec.). Stefansson: The Arctic Prophet: Wilhjalmur Stefansson made the study of the Arctic and its inhabitants his life's work, and added more to modern knowledge of the region than anyone else of our time (15 min. 56 sec.).
