A collection of four films on social conditions in developing countries. Titles include: The Sun and the Night: In refugee camps throughout the Third World, the High Commission for Refugees, collaborating with other agencies, works to prepare people for life in their prospective homelands (26 min. 5 sec.); In the Kampongs of Surabaya: Surabaya, the second-largest city in Indonesia, contains 120 "kampongs," areas that are home to 800 000 mostly unemployed people. With the aid of UNICEF, and the participation of the residents, the city has undertaken a massive program of education and renovation (26 min. 5 sec.); Madura Madura: On Madura, one of the 13 700 islands of Indonesia, the "dukuns," traditional wise women, are essential for disseminating information on hygiene and nutrition (26 min. 5 sec.); and Grande Saline: OXFAM-Québec sponsored a de-salination project in the hard-pressed Haitian village of Grande Saline, where the lack of clean drinking water is the main cause of disease (26 min. 5 sec.).
