How do animators get their drawings to "move"? What is a storyboard? Where do animators get their ideas? Enter the creative worlds of seven celebrated animators and find out the answers to these and other intriguing questions in this behind-the-scenes look at the NFB's animation studios. In Part I (24 min. 20 sec.) Oscar nominees Ishu Patel (Afterlife, Bead Game, Paradise) and Caroline Leaf (The Street), and Oscar winner John Weldon (Elephantrio) illuminate the mysteries of their award-winning films. In Part II (24 min. 8 sec.) George Ungar (The Wanderer), Gayle Thomas (A Sufi Tale), and Jacques Drouin (Nightangel) join Oscar-winner Co Hoedeman (Charles and François) as they present a variety of animation techniques including scratchboard, wiping, pinscreen and cut-outs. In Part III, the films are presented in their entirety (88 min. 42 sec.).
