A small group of young Chinese farmers comes to Saskatchewan on an exchange program to learn more about modern farming. Two of the participants, Jiao Jiang and Lui Li Nan, are followed as they spend a season living and working with their sponsor farm families. They are tested in many different ways as they struggle to adapt to life on a Canadian farm.
