Three productions bring to life dramatic episodes from the history of Atlantic Canada from the point of view of the people who experienced them. 'I Just Didn't Want to Die': The 1914 Newfoundland Sealing Disaster deals with the death of seventy-eight sealers from the S.S. Newfoundland in March, 1914 (19 min. 40 sec.). 'Just One Big Mess': The Halifax Explosion, 1917 tells of the explosion on the morning of December 6, 1917, when two ships, on of which was loaded with munitions, collided in Halifax Harbour, killing over 1,600 people (18 min. 30 sec.). 'They Didn't Starve Us Out': Industrial Cape Breton in the 1920s recounts the story of the long and arduous labour struggle in industrial Cape Breton during the 1920s (21 min.).
