A portrait of French Canadian author Roch Carrier is followed by an adaptation of one of his most charming stories. Roch Carrier - Storyteller Supreme: This profile of Québec author Roch Carrier follows him from a lively English classroom to his favourite French restaurant. Excerpts from five Carrier novels, read by the author, reveal his more reflective side and capture his familiar story-telling charm. The video includes an excerpt from the NFB's animated version of The Sweater and commentary by Carrier's chief translator, Sheila Fischman (25 min. 37 sec.). The Sweater: Set in the rural Québec of his boyhood, Carrier recalls the passion for playing hockey, which he shared with the other boys of his community. It was the time of Rocket Richard, the Canadiens' greatest star. A funny, poignant story animated in a style that evokes the period of the late 1940s (10 min. 21 sec.).
