Don't Take My Sunshine Away: Retired people today are living longer, healthier lives than ever before, challenging stereotypes of what it means to be old. This film addresses the vital issue of elder care by presenting model support programs in Sweden, Denmark, England, the United States and Canada. Focusing on the older people themselves, this sensitive documentary film explores ways of providing necessary care without undermining self-respect. In the process, it challenges us to consider the future of our ageing society (59 min. 23 sec.). When the Day Comes: As the number of people over the age of 65 keeps increasing dramatically, the issue of elder care becomes ever more pressing. This video focuses on the women who are the caregivers for spouses, family members or even friends. Questions as to the role of the caregiver, the lack of recognition and support by existing health care systems, the side effects of caregiving and telltale signs of stress upon the caregiver, as well as possible solutions for the future, are discussed (28 min. 47 sec.).
