Kid Nerd

Top of page

Everyone remembers them. They were scapegoats, the outsiders, they were the kid nerds. Kid Nerd is an offbeat, sometimes juicy, look back at nerdhood by adults who have come to terms with their nerdiness. Bullies, sports, the prom, the freedom that comes with university and adulthood: this fast-paced film, with its rockin' soundtrack and clever use of stock footage, finally lets the nerds have their say. For nerds, adolescence was not about fun. Being an unpopular child or teenager meant being harassed, bullied, beaten up--maybe even sexually abused. But nerds can overcome--most of those featured in the film have left behind their low self-esteem and become successful adults. Even so, the memories of their youth remain intense. Featuring Penn Jillette: rebel magician from Penn and Teller; Steven deSouza: screenwriter, 48 Hours, Die Hard; Josh Weinstein: executive producer, The Simpsons--as well as teachers, architects, cartoonists, editors, and a career stripper.
