In Celebration of Nunavut - Netsilik - Volume 1

This extraordinary series is a record of the traditional way of life of the Netsilik people, through the seasons of the year. Presented with no commentary or music, these videos are in Inuktitut, with no subtitles. Volume 1 contains: At the Autumn River Camp: Part 1 (26 min. 18 sec.) Late autumn scenes include building a karmak (a shelter with snow walls and a roof of skin), spear-fishing and cooking the catch. (1967); At the Autumn River Camp: Part 2 (33 min. 6 sec.) The family moves and builds an igloo. Then the men build a sled out of caribou antlers, skin and frozen fish, while the woman sews warm clothes. Finally, the sled is done. The family packs up and heads towards the coast. (1967)
