This extraordinary series is a record of the traditional way of life of the Netsilik people, through the seasons of the year. Presented with no commentary or music, these videos are in Inuktitut, with no subtitles. Volume 5 contains: Group Hunting on the Spring Ice: Part 2 (27 min. 55 sec.) Late June. The men hunt on the ice, the children play, and the women perform important tasks in camp: there are seagulls to clean and cook and seal skins to peg out and dry. Several women collect moss for fuel. (1967); Group Hunting on the Spring Ice: Part 3 (33 min. 1 sec.) Out on the ice with a group of seal hunters. The men look for breathing holes and wait for their prey. Swiftly, one of the men harpoons a seal. All gather and share in eating the liver and drinking blood. (1967) Some graphic hunting footage. Please preview before use.
