Nine videos documenting Inuit resilience in the change from nomadic to settled life. Volume 7 contains: Between Two Worlds (57 min. 50 sec.) Joseph Idlout lived in Pond Inlet and Resolute Bay and experienced the massive changes that transformed the lives of the Inuit. These changes led to life in settlements, but for Idlout, the changes caused his undoing. He was once the best known Inuit man in Canada: master hunter, star of documentaries, and one of the men pictured on the back of the two-dollar bill. With the help of Joseph's son, Peter Paniloo, Toronto filmmaker Barry Greenwald records the journey of Joseph Idlout's life--a journey that eventually left him lost between two worlds. This 1990 video is an excellent tool for discussing the impact of cultural conflict and the experience of becoming an exile in one's own land. (1990)
