In Celebration of Nunavut - Netsilik - Volume 10 - Jigging for Lake Trout

This extraordinary series is a record of the traditional way of life of the Netsilik people, through the seasons of the year. Presented with no commentary or music, these videos are in Inuktitut, with no subtitles. Volume 10 contains: Jigging for Lake Trout (31 min. 56 sec.) In May, a family crosses the ice and builds a karmak--a shelter with snow walls and a roof of skins. A man and woman jig for trout in the ice. A blizzard comes up, but they remain at their fishing holes. (1967)
