Description
Nine videos documenting Inuit resilience in the change from nomadic to settled life. Volume 9 contains: Qimmiq: Canada's Arctic Dog (24 min. 15 sec.) As snowmobiles and airplanes took over the role once played by dogs, the Qimmiq (also known as the Canadian Eskimo dog) nearly died out. By 1975 only a few hundred were left--victims of changing times, cross-breeding and southern canine diseases like distemper. Enter Bill Carpenter. A dedicated biologist, he bought healthy dogs from Inuit families and created a successful dog breeding program. Today the Qimmiq is a flourishing, registered pure-bred.
