This extraordinary series is a record of the traditional way of life of the Netsilik people, through the seasons of the year. Presented with no commentary or music, these videos are in Inuktitut, with no subtitles. Volume 11 contains: Stalking Seal on the Spring Ice: Part 1 (24 min. 31 sec.) June. A man drags himself across the ice, making seal sounds. He gets right up next to a seal and harpoons it. At camp he and his wife cut it up together. (1967); Stalking Seal on the Spring Ice: Part 2 (33 min. 45 sec.) The woman makes kamik boots while the husband puts a new head on his harpoon. When it is ready, he crosses the ice to hunt a seal, but he is unsuccessful. The man then collects gulls' eggs and returns to camp. (1967) Some graphic hunting footage. Please preview before use.
