A fable about love's illusions, Joséphine is an animated short set to the lively folk rhythms of the Acadian band Zéroo Celsius. Finely executed drawings move with fluidity and inventiveness to tell the tale of a tender-hearted boy who fantasizes and falls prey to the pitfalls of seduction. Reeling from a succession of rejections from the girl he loves--alternately depicted as siren or mermaid--and lured by the bait she dangles in front of him, the thwarted lover keeps rebuilding his hopes only to see them dashed over and over again.
