A Hunting Lesson

Top of page

An animated film by Jacques Drouin based on a book by novelist Jacques Godbout, translated by Sheila Fischman. Capturing all the twists and turns of this dramatic tale, the acclaimed pinscreen master brings to life the wild savannahs of Africa and the colours and textures of a Canadian autumn. Antoine is fascinated with his neighbour, a mysterious character who is rumoured to have once been a big game hunter. The young boy convinces his new friend to teach him to hunt. But the lesson Antoine learns from the wise old man is not at all what he had expected. What Antoine learns is a reverence for life.
