The Many Faces of Afghanistan - Box Set/Afghanistan : l'autre visage du pays - Coffret
Description
This box set of four documentaries on Afghanistan offers a different
perspective, a human look, into a complex, diverse and embattled country. Made
by sensitive and observant filmmakers, the films explore the joys and
hardships, the history and personal stories of Afghanis as they work to
rebuild their society in the face of horrendous odds and of the Canadians and
others who have come to share and help in their struggle.
Four films, four remarkable journeys. Afghan Chronicles
by Dominic Morissette focuses on an independent press group whose efforts to
publish and distribute its magazines mirror the effort of the country to
rebuild itself. Good Morning Kandahar by Ariel Nasr
tells the story of a group of young Afghan-Canadians trying to make sense of
the conflict in their homeland and the role played by Canada. A
Dream for Kabul by Philippe Baylaucq follows the quest of a
Japanese citizen who lost his only son in the attacks on the World Trade
Center and is trying to break the cycle of violence by building a legacy for
Afghan children. The Sweetest Embrace: Return to Afghanistan
by Najeeb Mirza follows the moving journey of two young men who were forcibly
separated from their families as young boys and after sixteen years finally
have the chance to go back and find their parents and their roots.
