Antarctic Mission - Islands at the Edge
In the first episode, Islands at the Edge,
the crew visit one of the largest great wildlife refuges on the planet—the
island of South Georgia. Hundreds of thousands of penguins, fur seals,
albatross and elephant seals come here in a breathtaking natural spectacle.
But behind the astounding beauty of these sub-Antarctic islands lurks a silent
and little-known secret. Despite their isolated location at the end of the
Earth, the islands of the Southern Ocean are already feeling the devastating
effects of climate change.
