Crushed by the machinery of performance – that’s modern man! To the menacing industrial music of Russian composer Alexander Mossolov, progress and its cogs, fire and terrifying geometry obliterate humanity. Inspired by One-Dimensional Man by the philosopher Herbert Marcuse, Drux Flux is the second film in a cycle Theodore Ushev began in 2006 with Tower Bawher. The filmmaker juxtaposes and overlaps images of factories, propaganda posters and abstract images to create a frightening link between progress, dehumanization and the war machine.
