Celebrating Chiac - Part II - SHORT VERSION

Top of page

In the cafés, streets and classrooms of Moncton, Shediac and Bouctouche, Acadians of all ages profess their love for the Chiac language, but also worry about the fate of Acadian culture and language. Forty years after Michel Brault’s documentary Éloge du chiac, the debate about this vernacular spoken by the Acadians of southeastern New Brunswick is more topical than ever. Peppered with humorous clips from the cartoon Acadieman, Celebrating Chiac – Part 2 elicits laughter and some gnashing of teeth, but is above all thought-provoking. English subtitled version.
