Vaysha n’est pas une jeune fille comme les autres, elle est née avec un œil vert et l’autre marron. Ses yeux vairons ne sont pas l’unique caractéristique de son regard.

Elle ne voit que le passé de l’œil gauche et le futur de l’œil droit. Véritable sortilège, sa vision scindée l’empêche de vivre au présent. Elle est aveuglée par le passé et tourmentée par l’avenir; son regard unique est parfaitement divisé en deux temporalités irréconciliables. Vaysha l’aveugle… c’est ainsi que tout le monde l’appelait.

Enfant prodige du milieu de l’animation, le cinéaste Théodore Ushev adapte une nouvelle philosophique de Georgi Gospodinov, un auteur multidisciplinaire majeur issu de la jeune génération des écrivains bulgares. Dans un style expressif et percutant, à mi-chemin entre la peinture religieuse et la linogravure, Ushev s’impose une fois de plus en virtuose de l’expérimentation visuelle. Il signe un film symbolique et à la portée de tous, qui fait la part belle tant aux paysages bucoliques européens qu’à l’architecture bénédictine.

Brillamment narré par la comédienne Caroline Dhavernas, ce film est un conte métaphorique sur la difficulté de vivre ici et maintenant. Vaysha l’aveugle nous rappelle, avec sagesse et humour, l’importance du moment présent.
