Presented in an immersive theatre with four screens and seats for viewers. With Mons, The Last Day, the filmmaker has created a poignant and immersive work evoking the last 24 hours of the war at Mons, Belgium—the final Canadian operation before the Armistice came into effect at 11 AM on November 11, 1918. Viewers experience this final advance from canal locks, to suburbs, to city—ending at the Grand-Place in the heart of the medieval city. In addition to recreating the countdown during the final hours of the conflict, the film pays homage to those who fought to the very end—in particular George Price, who is the last British Commonwealth soldier killed in action, his life tragically cut short by a sniper’s bullet two minutes before the Armistice was proclaimed.
