The NFB introduces Ludovic, its iPad app for children

Press release

2012/07/12

Montreal, July 12, 2012 – Today, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is launching Ludovic, its brand new iPad application designed in Montreal to entertain and educate children ages 3 to 5. Specially created for pre-reading children, this ideal vacation companion can now be downloaded from the App Store for as little as $1.99. It is the first NFB iPad application specifically intended for children.

Based on the acclaimed Four Seasons in the Life of Ludovic series, a quartet of puppet-animated short films by animation virtuoso Co Hoedeman, the Ludovic app features a cuddly, playful teddy bear. As the seasons unfold, he learns about friendship, playing games, bonding and grieving. The app is fun, entertaining and easy to use, with the following eight activity areas that are perfectly suited to preschoolers: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Clock, Calendar, Days of the Week and Weather. Guided by the voice of Ludovic, the loveable teddy bear, young users will discover a magical world of games, nursery rhymes and introductory exercises, as well as the four NFB films that can be preloaded on the iPad.

Ludovic joins the popular NFB Films and PixStop apps that the NFB has made available to iPad users.
