Convergence - Video-Conference D / Convergence - Vidéo-Conférence D - La Reproduction du son : perspectives d'avenir
New Horizons in Sound Reproduction. Although the search for better image quality has dominated all aspects of film and video technology for some time now, the area of sound is finally coming into its own. The multiple-track noise-reduction systems installed in theatres have significantly augmented the quality of movie sound, and home television receivers are now being produced in component designs, with separate stereo speakers for enhanced audio reproduction. These developments inevitably raise the profile of the sound engineer and post-production technician; these craftspeople are now permitted to "go the limit," knowing that the results of their efforts can finally be heard. Panelists present the latest developments and methodologies in sound recording and post-production for both film and video, and debate the options. Participants: Richard Knowles, Robert D. Predovich, Tomlinson Holman, Joe Sunday.
