Two films on Canadian women farmers. In Her Chosen Field: A tribute to the importance of women farmers to the agricultural economy, and recognition of the invisible subsidy their labour provides to consumers. Farm women from various parts of Canada are shown doing mixed farming in Saskatchewan, wheat farming in Manitoba and dairy farming in Ontario. The women also share their views on agriculture today and their attempts to deal with economic and social challenges (28 min. 4 sec.); A Time to Reap: A celebration of the victories of Quebec farm women who are attaining the recognition they have sought for so long. The film tells the stories of how in the 1970's, Quebec farm women became politized, setting up committees, joining unions and creating an association and federation, gradually becoming recognized for their professional status as food producers and as women in business with their husbands (28 min. 5 sec.).
