Haut de la page

A compilation of films about three explorers who put Canada on the map: Samuel de Champlain (Québec 1603): Explorer and colonizer, founder of Québec, discoverer of Lake Champlain, governor of New France, cartographer and writer - few men in Canadian history had a more adventurous and varied career than Samuel de Champlain. An exciting picture-study of the man and his times (14 min. 43 sec.). David Thompson: The Great Mapmaker: During his lifetime, David Thompson mapped a million and a half square miles of uncharted country; the greatest achievement in land geography of all time. This film recreates his story, culminating in his journey to the Pacific (28 min.). Stefansson: The Arctic Prophet: Wilhjalmur Stefansson was the last of the "dog sled" explorers and a legend long before his death.
